Crime in Southern Washington State

Vancouver continues to see property crime as the most prevalent category, with theft, theft from vehicles, and vandalism among the most frequently reported offenses. Burglary and motor-vehicle theft also remain recurring concerns, while assault represents a significant category of person-related crime. The latest available Vancouver Police data shows that in 2025 the city recorded 30,625 property-crime incidents, compared with 5,343 violent-crime incidents; theft alone accounted for 13,317 reports.

Across the Yakima Valley, theft and assault are among the most frequently reported crime types, with burglary, vandalism, robbery, and vehicle-related offenses also contributing to the region's security concerns. In May 2026, a multi-agency operation targeting violent offenders and gang activity in Yakima and Yakima County resulted in 28 arrests.
