What the officer actually carries
Equipment is matched to the site, not issued as a blanket loadout. Depending on what the post calls for:
Byrna launcher
a CO2-powered device firing kinetic or chemical irritant rounds at distance.
OC Spray
close-range chemical irritant, the standard tool for breaking up an assault in progress.
Baton
carried where the post and the officer's training support it.
Why not just go armed?
Because a firearm is a liability decision as much as a safety one, and on a lot of sites it is the wrong one.
Adding a gun to a lobby post, a school hallway, or a crowded retail floor introduces a risk that mostly did not exist before — to bystanders, to the client, and to the officer. It also narrows who will work the post and raises what the coverage costs. Where the actual threat profile is trespass, intoxication, theft, or an escalating argument, a less-lethal option resolves the incident without introducing a weapon that can kill someone.

Is a less-lethal officer the same as an armed officer?
No. Washington's armed private security guard endorsement requires a firearms certificate. A less-lethal officer does not carry a firearm. If you need an armed officer, that's a different tier and we'll say so.
